a snippet from our day

 Harper has discovered how fun it is to crawl and play with a lovie {or kitchen towel} over her head.

And it seems very logical when you are done playing with it to shove it under the furniture.  Where else would it go?

Oh, to be 11.5 months old.

In other Harper news - she can now stand on her own!  As in, she's on all fours and she just stands up!  She first did it on Tuesday, but when I told Jason he had me questioning if it really happened.  Well, yesterday we both witnessed her do it three times in a row!  Any guesses on when she'll be walking now???

a short weekend trip

Jason, Harper and I made a quick trip to Austin on Saturday to celebrate our friend Megan's 30th birthday.  Her husband and sister planned and executed a perfect surprise party for her.  {In case you forgot, Megan is the friend that was due the same day as me and has a little boy, Mason, who is 5 days older than Harper.}  We have been wanting to get the little ones together again since the last play date back in March.  Harper did so great at the party and had so much fun playing with lots of "new" toys.  And she and Mason had a blast playing on Sunday morning before we headed home.  It was so cute to watch :)

Aren't they so cute together?!  Too bad Mason lives in Austin.

11 months

These pictures get harder each month!  It is almost impossible for this active 11 month old to sit still for more than a second.  I hope that our professional photographer has several tricks up her sleeve for Harper's one-year-old pictures next month.

Isn't she just the cutest thing ever?

If you are wondering where her bow is {that is directed at you, Mom}, then here is your answer:

Bows are just not happening these days.

Neither are afternoon naps.  {Huge, heavy sigh.}

Moving on.

At 11 months {8/13}:

Growth:  Harper weighed around 19 pounds and measured about 28 1/4 inches tall {although I measured her so it could be way off}.  Her teeth count is up to 6!  4 on top and 2 on bottom.

Sleep:  Afternoon naps have been few and far between over the past few weeks.  Harper has had afternoon play time in her crib instead.  {However, she did take an afternoon nap yesterday and today so there is still hope!}

Eating:  Harper still nurses 4 times a day.  Only one more month to go before I start the weaning process {fingers crossed}.  She still enjoys table food as long as she can feed herself, although her appetite seems to have slowed down a bit recently.  So far the only thing that she has spit out was tilapia.  I don't blame her.  It wasn't the best.  I'm trying to come up with more breakfast and lunch options for her so that she's not always eating the same thing {although I think she'd love it if I gave her mozzarella cheese and cantaloupe at every meal}.  Any suggestions????

evidence of a good morning nap

Milestones:  She pulls up on everything, cruises the furniture, and can stand for a couple seconds on her own.  She says "bye bye", "uh oh" {Jason says this isn't a word.  I disagree.}, and "Santa".  Yes, Santa, thanks to the picture from last Christmas that sits on her shelf.  Harper is really into talking gibberish, too.  She babbles on and on, chuckles, and then goes on and on some more.  It is so cute :)

Play:  She can really entertain herself with doors and turning her night light off and on.  She also loves opening cabinets and drawers and pulling everything out.  And Harper loves dogs.  Any time she sees one on TV she goes crazy.  She really enjoys seeing other kids, too- preferably toddler age ones that can walk and talk.

There is really so much more that I could say about this silly little girl and what she's up to, but I doubt that it is interesting to anyone else, so I won't.

I do have one more thing to share though.  The most exciting thing of the month happened this past Sunday.  When we went to pick Harper up from the church nursery, she was crawling around, playing, and smiling.  I almost cried.  {I'm not kidding, I really had to hold back tears.}  This was the first time she was not held the whole time and didn't have dried up snot under her nose.  MAJOR progress!

Museum outing

Jason and I took Harper to the Children's Museum last Friday.  Jason has every other Friday off which is soooo nice!  {However, he worked about 12 hours at home between Saturday and Sunday.  Not so nice.}  Anyway, it was nice to get out of the house and let Harper play somewhere else.  She seemed to enjoy herself.  I think she had more fun just watching the other children than playing with the toys.

And now off to do more productive things.  I think Harper might actually be asleep for her afternoon nap.  And in only 30 minutes!!  Hooray!

Nope.  Right after I typed that she started talking again.  Huge sigh.
